The official opening of Crawford Primary School took place on Tuesday 26th November. The event was attended by Provost McAllan, councillor, representatives from Education, previous headteachers and the Schools Modernisation Programme, invited guests from community groups and parents.
Mrs Orr, headteacher, opened the celebrations with a speech on how much the pupils, staff, parents and community love their new school. She spoke of the slate project and encouraged new visitors to have a good look around the school. She then introduced the pupils who went on to perform “C’mon, Get aff”. The pupils did a tour of Scotland in their school bus and sang songs from each place they visited. The show was a great success and the singing of the 23 pupils on stage was praised by everyone.
Provost McAllan then did a speech after thanking the pupils. He spoke of the school’s recent HMIe report and talked of some of the activities the pupils have been involved in. He then officially opened the school with the help of George in P7 and Lucy in P1.
The P7 boys George, Callum and Tristan then did the vote of thanks. They spoke very well and with confidence.
Teas and home baking were then enjoyed by all. It was a memorable event and everyone was very proud of the pupils. A day to be remembered for many years.
