Both classes have worked hard all term, getting back into the way of school life. They have all enjoyed seeing their friends and teachers again.
The Big Class loved their unit study “The Stick Man with the Big Bum”. They enjoyed trying lots of activities that the main character tried. The favourites were Chalk outlines, Squirt Toy and Live by the Dice.
The Wee Class have loved their Fairyland topic. The dragon asked them to create their own fairy tales which they did.
All pupils are looking forward to their October holiday and are excited about the new term.
P1-3 have transformed their classroom into Fairyland. Here are the castle and beanstalk they have created.
Here are the pupils of P1-3. They are at a birthday party for the Lonely Giant. You can see they are all raising their glasses to say cheers. They had the party as part of their Fairyland Topic. Every week they read a different book and do lots of fun activities. Watch this space for more photos of what they have been up to.
Monday 9th March was our latest Forest School Day at Fairy Gate Wood. All pupils and staff walked to the wood and after the health and safety checks, took part in a fun filled day.
The pupils made popcorn over the campfire, built giant nests and created journey story sticks. Lunch was enjoyed around the campfire. This was followed by marshmallow toasting. At the end of the day there was time for freeplay which is always a big hit.
A big tidy up and then the walk home. It was a cold day but the children were too busy and well clad to even notice!
The whole school went to the Playhouse Theatre in Edinburgh to watch the musical The Lion King. The children had been doing lots of fundraising to pay for the event. They had a wonderful time and really enjoyed the show. A big thank you to everyone who donated to their fundraising activities.
All pupils took part in a Coding Workshop on Tuesday 3rd March. They did very well and learned lots.It was a great day and lots of learning and fun!
A big thank you to everyone who donated 20ps in smartie tubes. The grand total of £476.08 was raised. This is an amazing total for 22 pupils. This money will be added to the pot for the Lion King theatre visit. Well done everyone!
P1-4 has been working on an enterprise topic this week. They created a company “Fruit Troops” which provided tubs of fruit for sale every playtime this week. They prepared the fruit tubs and took orders before selling them to staff and pupils at playtimes. The money raised will go in the “Lion King” pot.Well done P1-4.
The pupils are looking forward to a trip to see The Lion King on the 4th March. The pupils are finding interesting and enterprising ways to help them raise the funds for the trip. So far there has been a Tabletop Sale and a Roald Dahl Day Book Sale and Coffee Morning.
This term, the pupils have each been given a Smartie tube. They are trying to fill it with 20p coins. Full, a Smartie tube holds over £12.00. The pupils are motivated and are thinking of ways to earn the 20p coins.
We would be very grateful to anyone who is willing to save 20ps for us.
October 31st saw a weird and wonderful collection of people roaming around the school. They all had a “spooktacular” time at the party.
